Samsung Galaxy Watch Users Urged to Update Immediately

Your Galaxy Watch needs an update. Samsung’s February 2026 release fixes critical security bugs and optimizes performance across Galaxy Watch series. Here is why you should not delay the installation.

Samsung’s smartwatches are among the devices that receive regular software updates. Although these updates are not as frequent as those for their smartphone counterparts, the company always manages to squeeze numerous thoughtful enhancements into every release. The latest February firmware is now rolling out to the Galaxy Watch, and beyond quality-of-life changes, it’s a critical update users should install immediately.

Which Galaxy Watches Are Receiving the Update?

Many Galaxy Watch users are now reporting that they have received the latest firmware as the February security update. The update seemingly arrived first for the Galaxy Watch 7 last week before expanding to more models, including the Galaxy Watch Ultra, Watch 8 (review), Watch 6, and Watch 5 series. However, the release is still being rolled out in stages, so some regions may only see it in the coming days.

Surprisingly, the update is quite hefty, even though it is not a major One UI Watch release. On the Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic, the firmware is approximately 424 MB and is tagged as L330XXU2AZB1/L330OXM2AZB1.

The accompanying changelog highlights optimizations and improved security. While details are sparse, this update should address numerous bugs faced by users, including the battery woes that many noted in previous firmware builds. On Reddit, several users have already mentioned that their Galaxy Watch’s battery life has improved significantly after the update. It remains unclear, however, if the patch also fixes performance issues in certain apps, such as the weather app.

Why You Should Not Delay Installing

Moreover, the February security update includes the latest patch dated February 5, 2026. While Samsung has not provided a full list of addressed flaws, based on the same patch shipped to phones last month, it likely addresses multiple security bugs, including critical and high-severity vulnerabilities.

Specific fixes shipped by Samsung reportedly address bugs in biometric authentication and flaws in certain apps that could have been exploited by attackers or fraudsters. Due to these security enhancements, the update notes that rolling back or downgrading to a previous version will no longer be possible.

Beyond this release, Samsung’s next major milestone is the One UI 8.5 Watch update. While no official release date has been announced, it is expected to ship shortly after One UI 8.5 hits Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets.
